Why biz owners get stuck working in biz instead of on biz

A little mea culpa is in order here. 

The good news is that I've been working with some amazing clients alongside colleagues, and making a real difference to leaders and teams around the country.

The bad news is - yep - I got stuck working in the business instead of on the business. I've posted updates and started discussions in LinkedIn, and have tweeted occasionally, yet I have not done much marketing beyond doing the best job possible for the clients we have right now. 

It's completely addicting, and yet can cause a feast and famine cycle that is just not fun to be part of. Carving out time to finish my book so readers can learn about and implement practical methods to improve their leadership will ultimately help more people than I'm helping right now - yet I am indeed helping them now and it feels like that's all that matters. When it's not.

So just like many of the senior executives that I work with, I will make the time to complete my book, help my colleagues, and do those activities I know are investments in the future. 

Because if I don't work on the business, someday there won't be a business to work in anyway!
