The week leading up to Christmas is full of to-do lists, last minute meetings, and project wrap-ups. It’s easy for this week to be a bit distracting. We turn our attention to the demands of home life, or look ahead to what’s going to be waiting on our desks for us in January. However, before you log off for the year, we’re sharing a few reminders to reflect upon.
We know you’re busy, so we’ll make this quick:
1. Celebrate now to provide everyone energy for what’s next
It’s easy to rush ahead into what next year will need from you. Before you launch yourself into the future, make a list of the things you are proud of and catalog what you accomplished as a team. Start with ordinary things that helped you accomplish your goals and end with the big milestones you couldn’t have done on your own. Write a toast or a note of appreciation to share with your team.
2. A little coasting can go a long way
Many leaders have had their foot hard on the accelerator pedal these last few weeks. It’s ok to ease up as the year comes to a close. Take a deep breath. Find pockets of rest. You are enough. You have accomplished enough for this season.
December, being the last month of the year, cannot help but make us think of what is to come. – Fennel Hudson
3. Creating your future can actually be fun
Leaders and teams have the power to change the world. This change starts with what you believe to be possible. What big future do you want to work towards in 2023? We believe dreaming and seeing what could be is important and - dare we say it? - fun. When you return to work in 2023, harness the brilliance of your team and continue sketching out your plans together to make that positive impact our world desperately needs. And if you need a listening ear or a strategic soundboard, let’s have a conversation.
We see you. You matter. Cheers to all you and your teams have accomplished in 2022.
